The tabloids were on high alert this weekend as rumours swirled that Canadian “music royalty” Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger would finally tie the knot. I guess the rumours were right this time as they reportedly tied the knot on July 1st (Canada Day! Aw, how appropriate) in the South of France, according to Us Weekly.
The gossip rag says the 38-year-old Nickelback frontman and 28-year-old pop-rock singer said “I do” in Mandelieu, Frances (near Cannes) surrounded by 50 guests. A “wild” reception and dinner followed the ceremony and lasted until 6 a.m. the next day.
Chavril announced their engagement last summer. This is Kroeger’s first marriage and Lavigne’s second. She was previously married to Sum 41′s Deryck Whibley and they split in 2009 after three years of marriage.
